Connecting to internet using Nokia 3110c on a computer

This may be joke to some experts, but i think of adding this post also.
It is about how to connect your PC to net using your Nokia 3110c phone.

Here are the steps
  • At first we have to configure the phone for your net usage. To configure it on phone, go to settings>connectivity>Packet data>packet data settings>Edit access point. In this menu, check whether the access point and alias name are correct(If you don't know the access point contact your customer care or search the net). If it is not configured correctly, correct it. Thus the configuration in the phone is complete.
  • The second step is to configure the settings in the computer. Before this you must make sure that your phone is correctly detected by your computer or PC suite and the modem drivers are installed. Click here to know how you can check whether the modem is working correctly or not.
  • Then open Network connection by going to control panel.
  • From the menu bar, click the file menu and click new connection
  • Click 'next' twice and on the screen click" Set up connection manually" and then click 'next'.
  • Select"using dial up modem" and click next
  • Select the modem you want to use(In this case our phones modem). If you have only one modem installed this step may not appear.
  • Type in any isp name . This is for your reference only
  • Type the phone number as *99#  . This is the default number for connecting using phone(Well, I am not so sure ). Click next.
  • If you need a username and password while connecting type it here.( It is not a place of registering. It is generally left blank for phones 'or otherwise contact your customer care)
  • Click next and then finish.
  • Now your dial up connection is ready and you can connect to internet without opening pc suite every time. Just go to start>connect to>"the name you have given for connection" and click dial.
Not connecting ---------check this
  • Go to control panel and click phone and modem options
  • Check if your location and area code is correctly displayed.
  • Click on modems tab
  • Select our modem and then click properties
  • In the appeared window, select the diagnostics tab and click query modem.
  • Check the result (appearing in command-response space above the tab), if it says success, then your modem is correctly installed, if not try reinstalling phones drivers
  • Now click on the advanced tab and delete any the extra initialization command
  • Click ok and try again
